JETBRAINS - Office - GERMANY >
Complete renovation and redesign of the German HQ of Jetbrains, a cutting-edge, multinational software development company with more than 1000 employees and 1.5 million customers. Sophiegreen was comissioned to re-imagine the office around the concept of a 'natural futuristic mood' combining both humanistic and data elements, prioritise sustainable materials within the design - and communicate Jetbrains' identity through the space.
In the reception, the desk is transformed into a unique 3D sculptural representation of Jetbrains' logo. The bright colour degradation is carried on from the ceiling through the floor, where a path creates a visual cue, inviting people into the space. On the walls, wood wool panels in white provide a neutral backdrop, used throughout the open plan, they give texture and geometric pattern, while their acoustic controlling properties help to create a calm environment. Colours change to blues and greens in the multimedia area, while partial walls create more private working zones and - intersposed with planting and screens - suggest a vision of the 'natural future'.
With dynamic lines as another design element, welding joints are left visible on linoleum, naturally forming a criss-cross pattern that is echoed above with cut edges of high density panels with black core, creating a graphic frame around prismatic fronts of integrated storage. Strip lights are grouped directionally, while large, space-ship like shades in coloured metal provide an industrial contrast. Opaque glass panels etched with lines of connection clusters developed from the metro maps of the cities the company is present in create walls for individual offices.
In the flexible working lounge leaf wallpaper, planting and natural wood with design classic furniture creates a relaxed and adaptable space. In the cafeteria preparation counters are futuristic angular forms in white, inset with contrasting geometric shapes of integrated storage spaces. The finished project has visual and emotional impact, communicates Jetbrains' identity and feels warm and welcoming with plenty of potential.
